Driveway Installed and Cleared Brush from Parking Area

The contractor finished installing the driveway on 03/16/2022 and we began clearing the land for the parking area on 03/19/2022 (4 hours). The work is being done by ourselves with just hand tools. The brush is being cut up in small pieces and being used for a wood chip parking area. On 04/23/2022 (4 hours), we cut up with shears and cleaned up vinyl siding that appeared to be from an old house on the property that is no longer there. We moved just about all of the dirt on 05/14/2022 (4 hours) from the pile on the left to the hole where the foundation used to be. This was done with just a mattock and a couple of shovels and 5-gallon buckets. We finished moving the dirt on 06/11/2022 (4 hours) from the pile on the left to the hole where the foundation used to be. Started clearing the brush around the removed dirt pile with hand tools. From 07/09/2022 through 07/15/2022 (8 hours each day) we moved all of the dirt from the pile on the right to the hole where the foundation used to be. We cleared almost all of the brush from the parking area using hand tools. The parking area is roughly 200 feet by 50 feet or about a quarter of an acre.


From 08/14/2022 through 08/19/2022 (2 hours each day) we started clearing brush where the course will be using hand tools. On 09/17/2022 (4 hours) we cleared the brush around three big pine trees which we intend to keep. We also used a two-man hand saw for the first time which we purchased from a local flea market. The saw is approximately 5 foot 6 inches in length. It did a great job cutting up some of the big limbs that were on the ground which had previously fallen from some of the dead trees. We finished clearing the brush from the parking area on the left side of the driveway on 10/15/2022 (4 hours). We also staked logs down where the parking area will end and the miniature golf course will begin. We cut/pruned/trimmed branches on 11/12/2022 (4 hours) from a maple tree close to the road. The branches were up high so rope and a harness were used to get up there. We also cut down a dead tree behind/beside the maple tree. We finished removing all of the branches except for one on 12/10/2022 (4 hours) from a maple tree close to the road. We used a bow saw and an electric mini chainsaw to remove some of the hard-to-reach branches.

Tree Cracked and Ready to Fall

On 02/17/2025 we heard a tree making a cracking noise in the wind and snow. Upon looking closer at the tree, we discovered a big crack in its trunk. It looked like it could fall at any time. Since we were working close to the tree, we decided to cut it down. It was the largest tree that we cut down that day.  We also cut down 2 smaller trees and cut up another tree that had previously fallen and was on the ground. The roads were snow covered which increased our travel time. As a result, we only worked for 1.5 hours.
