MAKA Minigolf Latest News

MAKA Minigolf is a new miniature golf course being built in Ashtabula County, Ohio. After searching for the perfect location, we placed an offer on a vacant wooded lot on 11/08/2021. The offer was accepted, and the official date of sale was 12/15/2021. The first phase of the miniature golf course construction involved working with the Ohio Department of Transportation to establish the best location for a field driveway and to acquire the necessary permits. We met with the department of transportation on 01/05/2022 and a driveway permit was issued on 01/18/2022. Once the necessary permits were obtained an excavation company was hired to install a culvert and gravel driveway. We started clearing the brush by hand for the driveway on 02/20/2022. The contractor finished installing the driveway on 03/16/2022.This allowed access to the property. Building Brick Patio

On 05/24/2025 we started building a brick patio. The patio is being built from used bricks that were buried on the property from an old structure. We worked for 4 hours.

Added Path to Patio Area

On 05/17/2025 we added a 30-foot path from the parking area to the patio area. The path was created and leveled using a weed whip, shears, flat shovel, and mattock. The path was then covered with landscape fabric and mulch. At the end of the path, the logs were cleared away to allow for entrance into what will be the patio area. Also, some of the first wildflowers of the season started to bloom. We worked for 4 hours.

Leaning Tree Cut Down

On 04/26/2025 we cut down a leaning tree with the two-man saw. When the tree fell it knocked down another dead tree. In addition, we cut down 3 more dead trees for a total of 5 trees taken down and added to the edging. We worked for 4 hours.  

Cut Up 3 Trees on Ground

On 03/22/2025 we cut up 3 trees on the ground and added them to the log edging. We also cut down 2 dead trees. We worked for 4 hours.

Tree Cracked and Ready to Fall

On 02/17/2025 we heard a tree making a cracking noise in the wind and snow. Upon looking closer at the tree, we discovered a big crack in its trunk. It looked like it could fall at any time. Since we were working close to the tree, we decided to cut it down. It was the largest tree that we cut down that day.  We also cut down 2 smaller trees and cut up another tree that had previously fallen and was on the ground. The roads were snow covered which increased our travel time. As a result, we only worked for 1.5 hours.

Cut Down Half Fallen Dead Tree

On 01/18/2025 we cut down a half fallen dead tree. In addition, we cut up some dead trees that were on the ground and used them for edging. We worked for 3.5 hours.

Stacked Logs Used as Edging for Back Left Of Course

On 12/14/2024 we cleared brush from the back left corner of the course. Then logs were stacked and used as edging to outline the back of the course on the left. In addition, a couple of dead trees were cut down. We worked for 4 hours.
