Selecting the Site for a New Miniature Golf Course

After looking at numerous potential sites for a new miniature golf course in the late summer and fall of 2021, we went back to take a second look at a property in Andover Twp, OH on 11/06/2021. Out of the sites that we visited, this one had what we were looking for and so we made an offer on 11/08/2021.

There were several reasons why we selected this particular site. It was located on a major road not far from a state park. Pymatuning Lake State Park is a large recreational area located on the border of northwestern Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio, containing one of the largest lakes in Pennsylvania at 17,088 acres. It is one of the most visited state parks in Pennsylvania attracting approximately 3.7 million visitors annually.

The site is also relatively flat and has a nice creek that runs through it. There is plenty of room for parking along with the course itself. On 11/27/2021, we took measurements for where to locate the driveway. In December, our offer was accepted, and the official date of sale was 12/15/2021.

MAKA Minigolf is a new miniature golf course being built in Ashtabula County, Ohio. After searching for the perfect location, we placed an offer on a vacant wooded lot on 11/08/2021. The offer was accepted, and the official date of sale was 12/15/2021. The first phase of the miniature golf course construction involved working with the Ohio Department of Transportation to establish the best location for a field driveway and to acquire the necessary permits. We met with the department of transportation on 01/05/2022 and a driveway permit was issued on 01/18/2022. Tree Cracked and Ready to Fall

On 02/17/2025 we heard a tree making a cracking noise in the wind and snow. Upon looking closer at the tree, we discovered a big crack in its trunk. It looked like it could fall at any time. Since we were working close to the tree, we decided to cut it down. It was the largest tree that we cut down that day.  We also cut down 2 smaller trees and cut up another tree that had previously fallen and was on the ground. The roads were snow covered which increased our travel time. As a result, we only worked for 1.5 hours.
